TeamAlert and Android power saving features

Some Android phones attempts to conserve battery by automatically hibernating apps or blocking apps from running normally. This can at times interfere with TeamAlerts ability to handle incoming alarms.

Most phone manufacturers lets you select protected apps that should not be interfered with by the battery optimization features. If possible TeamAlert should also always be allowed to auto-start. TeamAlert is designed to use very little battery and you won't notice any difference in battery lifetime by following this guide.

Changing the required settings is done in different ways depending on your phones make and model, but usually you will find these settings in the battery- or app settings menu. Look for any of these keywords:

  • battery optimization
  • power management
  • hibernation
  • protected apps
  • autostart

...or similar terms.

If TeamAlert is put in hibernation by the phone you could miss push message that would otherwise trigger the alarms. Instead you will receive an SMS fallback text after ca. 3 minutes. Also, remember to check if there could be other reasons  why you are not receiving push messages.
